Come spend two nights in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires before boarding a flight to the Patagonia region of Argentina.
Get acquainted with your new surroundings and then spend the second half of your adventure trekking through the mountains of El Chalten and El Calafate.
You’ll find yourself surrounded by mountains and glaciers at every turn in Patagonia, making this one of the most unique places in all of Argentina!
Trip begins at Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) at 2:00 pm.

Welcome to Buenos Aires! Upon arrival at Ezeiza International Airport, your Trip Leader will pick you up and whisk you off to your hotel.
Explore Buenos Aires, known as a city of contrasts. This large city has strong cultural, artistic, and sports communities. You’ll also find a wide range of cuisine waiting to be tried. And don’t forget about the vibrant nightlife, highlighted by the Argentine ballroom dance staple, the milonga.
Join your new friends for our first dinner together at a local restaurant and begin to settle into your surroundings.
Today, we will take a walking city tour of Buenos Aires where you will experiences, firsthand, the city’s spirit, mystique, and charm.
Begin your walking tour in the heart of Buenos Aires. Continue on your city adventure as you visit iconic locations like Puerto Madero, La Boca and Caminito, San Telmo, Palermo and Recoleta.
Enjoy one last night in the bustling city of Buenos Aires before you head out to the Patagonia region of Argentina tomorrow!
After breakfast, take an included local flight El Calafate in southern Argentina where your Patagonian adventures will begin.
Upon arrival at El Calafate Airport, met your local driver for a transfer to your hotel in El Chalten, located 3.5 hours far from El Calafate.
Along the way, keep an eye out the window…there are mountains and glaciers at every turn, which is what makes this corner of Patagonia so unique.
Once in El Chaltén, stretch your legs with a stroll around the town with your Trip Leader and take in the views of the famous Mount Fitz Roy.
Grab dinner as a group before heading in for the night. Tomorrow begins our epic hiking adventure, so rest up!
Good morning! After breakfast, head to the trailhead at El Pilar, north of town.
Begin your trek in a dense forest that protects us from the winds coming off the Continental Ice Field.
This is an all-day trek, covering 13 miles (22 kilometers), lasting 10-12 hours through some of the most beautiful scenery in the entire world.
The first ~6 miles (10 kilometers) of hiking are quite flat and gentle. This should take 3-4 hours as you enjoy majestic views of Fitz Roy, Los Tres glacier, and its lagoon. You will arrive at Poincenot base camp and begin your ascent to the top of Fitz Roy. These 2 kilometers are challenging, climbing over 400 meters of elevation on a rocky trail.
Enjoy lunch at the summit before descending back to base camp. If you are physically unable to get to the top, you can rest here with the group before walking back to the town El Chaltén.
En route, we go past some varying landscapes, and crystal clear streams and pass by Laguna Capri, a favorite spot for photographers. After visiting the lagoon, we’ll drop down into the valley where El Chaltén is located.
After such an exciting day, why not relax in the town with a beer at a microbrewery or a hot chocolate with some homemade cake!?
We leave the center of El Chaltén by crossing over the bridge of the Fitz Roy River, then continue along to the National Park offices. From here, we’ll pick up the trailhead and walk up the path to the first viewpoint, which is perfect for admiring the impressive granite peaks and glaciers that lie just beyond the town of El Chaltén.
The other viewpoint, Las Aguilas, is not far away with just 30 minutes between the two. After a gentle stroll along the path, you’ll be able to admire the vastness of the Patagonian desert and the immensity of Lake Viedma.
After breakfast, you will travel back to El Calafate.
El Calafate, popularly called "Calafate", is a city located on the southern shore of Lake Argentino, in the Patagonia region. It is the land of the glaciers and offers visitors incredible and beautiful views of ice blocks.
After settling at your hotel, why not explore a bit of this beautiful town.
After breakfast, drive from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno Glacier. The drive will take you on a beautiful route around the edge of Lake Argentino. Don’t worry, we’ll make several stops for photographs along the way. In addition to the stunning landscape, it is not unusual to see condors or eagles flying over the area.
After a little bit of hiking, we’ll board a boat for an up-close look at the southern face of the glacier. The vessel sails slowly making frequent stops to allow you to marvel at the fascinating shapes and spectrum of colors.
Return to El Calafate for some dinner and to wander around the town.
Wake up to your final Argentinian sunrise and take included transportation back to the El Calafate airport to catch your flight back to Buenos Aires.
Arrive back in Buenos Aires and say your goodbyes to your new friends before catching your flight back home.
